ABC’s new horror series, THE RIVER, is set to premiere tomorrow night and it is sure to be a success, especially with Oren Peli (director of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY) behind the wheel…or should that be oar?
Below is the trailer which shows Bruce Greenwood as television host and explorer Dr. Emmett Cole, who goes missing while travelling through uncharted territories of the Amazon. Six months later, with no sign of her husband, Cole’s wife Tess (Leslie Hope) and their son Lincoln (Joe Anderson) decide to try and find him themselves.
However, adding to the suspense – and Tess and Lincoln’s hope of finding Cole alive – his emergency beacon has started transmitting again, six months after going dead.
From the looks of this trailer, something strange is going on in the Amazon – what is it? Why’s it there? And who will survive?
I get a strong feeling of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, especially since Peli is directing, but also of British science fiction film, MONSTERS (2010), directed by Gareth Edwards. To find out what happens, we’ll all have to tune in.
THE RIVER premieres Tuesday 7th February, 2012, on ABC.
Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
