Matt Damon, Gus Van Sant and John Krasinski Confirmed For Promised Land

It’s been reported that Gus Van Sant will team up with GOOD WILL HUNTING writer and star Matt Damon once again for this project with the working title of PROMISED LAND. Believe it or not, we can’t, it has been 15 years since Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s Oscar winning screenplay launched them both into the mainstream under the focused directorial guidance of Van Sant.

This time around it’s John Krasinski writing with Damon, you’ll know him best as Jim Halbert from the successful cross-over US version of THE OFFICE. It’s been picked up by Focus Features and Participant Media and currently all the details are being finalised. Originally Damon was planning to follow his friend Affleck into the director’s chair for the script but he’s just too darn busy.

It’s being described as Capraesque story in which Krasinski and Damon play corporate executives rivals and the latter beings to question his life when he arrives in a small town. This is very much a close-knit affair with production, direction and writing and I’m very much waiting with a mass of interest for how this develops…
