If you like aggressively quirky comedy and the noisier of the two from The Mighty Boosh, then there’s a chance you’ll be excited to hear that NOEL FIELDING’S LUXURY COMEDY has been given a second season. The show, which premiered just last Thursday, blends live action zaniness with animated wackiness, all designed to appeal to Fielding’s core fanbase (teenage girls). Fielding’s writing process seems to consist of combining nouns and job titles, so hopefully he’ll be able to think of plenty more pairings before the second series begins in 2013.
Fielding says: ‘Channel Four have been so supportive and given us creative freedom to experiment with ideas and techniques. And I think we can push things further and make something even more out there next time.’ It’s good to know that the writer is focussing mostly on making his programme more wilfully bizarre rather than, like, better or something. Between the two series, his fans will just have to settle for watching him on NEVERMIND THE BUZZCOCKS, wearing crazy hats and jabbering on about a bourbon librarian or something.
