Survival Thriller ‘Black Rock’ Picked Up By LD Distribution

Fans of genre classics like DELIVERANCE, SOUTHERN COMFORT and THE HILLS HAVE EYES should be pleased to find the news that indie survival-horror BLACK ROCK has been picked up for distribution. The film, starring Kate Bosworth, Lake Bell and Katie Aselton (who also directs) is said to follow in the same footsteps as those aforementioned features. This has prompted newly formed LD Distribution to broker a deal.

The plot pits three friends, who decide on camping trip on a remote Maine Island, against a band of recently discharged soldiers on a hunting expedition. As you can imagine; blood will flow and fighting for their lives will push the three friends to the limit. Aselton directed the film that was written by her husband, Mark Duplass (CYRUS). No word yet on a release date.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
