Green Light For The Last Exorcism Sequel & Director

Director of ‘found-footage’ horror hit THE LAST EXORCISM, Daniel Stamm, will not be returning to helm the sequel. That task will fall to Ed Gass-Donnelly, who will direct from a script by Damien Chazelle. Gass-Donnelly was responsible for 2010’s little seen thriller SMALL TOWN MURDER SONGS starring the great Peter Stormare as a local cop with a secret.

Returning to the sequel will be Ashley Bell, reprising her role as the demon-possessed Nell Sweetzer. Plot details are being kept under-wraps but with Bell’s involvement once again, it must ultimately feature her character. Could it be a possible prequel, along the lines of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake; maybe using a clunky title of THE SECOND TO LAST EXORCISM – surely not! The films producers, who are working on a title as THE LAST EXORCISM 2 commented:

This much bigger scale movie will unravel a profoundly scarier chapter to Nell’s battle between good and evil. God have mercy.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
