We believe that Tim Burton has been secretly wanting to get back to his gothic-animation roots for quite a while now and although he has explored various avenues of genre and style, the man himself has said that FRANKENWEENIE is something very close to his heart.
Back in 1984, Burton released this as a short film with the same name. It’s the story of Victor Frankenstein and his beloved dog Sparky. One day Sparky gets sent to the big old Farm House in the sky but Young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended and sometimes monstrous consequences. In this shot, we’ve got a nod to Jules Verne’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA and quite possibly the beginning of a much bigger tail [sic]…
FRANKENWEENIE features the voice talents of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short and Martin Landau. It’s currently set for release in Halloween season: October 5th 2012.
