69th Golden Globe Nominations Announced

The 69th Golden Globe nominations have literally just been announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles. Actor Woody Harrelson took to the stage to read out the list of potential recipiants of the famous gongs, which are dished out at a ceremony in Beverly Hills on 15th January, 2012. Ricky Gervais will be back to host the awards for the third time in a row, a very controversial, but smart move from the Hollywood Foreign Press, who run the show.

This year, the black and white, silent movie THE ARTIST leads the nominations with six in all, closely followed by the equally fantastic THE HELP, 50/5, HUGO and WAR HORSE.

George Clooney has done alright out of the noms, with nods for THE DESCENDANTS (best actor) and THE IDES OF MARCH (best director). Meryl Streep has also been nominated for the upcoming THE IRON LADY, in which she plays former British Prime Minister, Lady Thatcher.
