Opening with scenes of Barack Obama and David Cameron speaking of unity against a tyrant you would be forgiven for mistaking it for a new documentary about Gadaffi.
Then you hear the words “Ah, America; the birthplace of AIDS,” and realise it’s the trailer for Sacha Baron Cohen’s new film THE DICTATOR.
The BORAT (2007) and BRUNO (2009) star is back this time with a narrative about a dictator “who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”
Said to be inspired by the novel “Zabibah and the King” by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, the film has a star-studded cast inlcuding Megan Fox, Ben Kingsley, Ana Faris and John C Reilly.
THE DICTATOR is directed by frequent Cohen collaborator Larry Charles and will be released in cinemas May 2012.
