Nolan Keeping The Outcome Of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Under His Cape

Fans only have to wait until July to experience the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise. Last week the writer/director showed journalists and bloggers seven minutes of his final venture into Gotham City before releasing this same footage in some IMAX theatres to be shown before screenings of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. Before the exclusive preview Nolan discussed how the final days of shooting the vigilante epic were, and how he hopes what he has done with the franchise will please Batman fans.

‘I tend not to be too emotional on the set,’ he said, ‘but you definitely get a little lump in your throat thinking that, “OK, this is going to be the last time we’re going to be doing this”. It’s been quite a journey. Hopefully, reflecting that journey — by all of us who made the films — in the three films together will make it so they have a real span to them, some real heft.’

When asked about the hero’s fans, Nolan said, ‘It’s terrific to have people that interested in something. It reminds you that it is a real honor to work on something that means so much to people…[the fans] want it to be great, they want to go enjoy it and they’re fascinated by it. You know, there’s always controversy regarding things that people will disagree with but hopefully they appreciate the effort of trying to make something good.’

Nolan’s mention of doing things ‘people will disagree with’ coupled with the newly released poster has gotten fans wondering. The poster portrays a torn off Batman costume with a shady man walking away, with no indication as to whether it is Bruce Wayne or not. Text above the image reads, ‘ THE LEGEND ENDS’. Is Christopher Nolan killing off the Caped Crusader?! We can only wait to find out.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is released in the UK on 20th July 2012 and has an all-star cast including Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Anne Hathaway.

Sam was once a Tesco employee who dreamed of making it big, so she got a job at an independent cinema in Walton and has since never looked back. Four years on she has become an avid, and somewhat aggressive, film buff. She has recently completed her degree in Professional and Creative Writing with Media Arts and hopes to, one day, be a screenwriter/director. Personally, Sam is short, sometimes boring to be around but mostly quite fun. She does, however, feel a little bit awkward when writing about herself in the third person. Sam enjoys playing with Spartacus (her cat), watching films, obviously, and the occasional Nando's.
