Director Patty Jenkins has left Marvel superhero sequel THOR 2 after citing the familiar ‘creative differences’ as her reason. Jenkins, who helmed Charlize Theron’s incredible Oscar-winning turn as Aileen Wournos in MONSTER was due to take over Kenneth Branagh for the hammer-wielding god of thunder’s follow-up.
The studio is now looking at potential suitors to take over, which means they have to act quickly in order to make sure they meet the films already-set release date of 15th November 2013. That may appear a long time away but considering the extensive special effects work expected in the film it will ease the studios mind if they have a director in place.
The film will again star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, who is already set to appear on the big-screen as the character for next summers hugely anticipated superhero team-up, THE AVENGERS.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
