Shyamalan’s Will Smith Sci-fier ‘After Earth’ In Talks With Two More

M. Night Shyamalan’s fall from grace has unfortunately been a swift one for the once-untouchable director. After giving us the brilliant box-office hit thrillers-with-a-twist THE SIXTH SENSE, UNBREAKABLE, SIGNS and THE VILLAGE, it was soon downhill after that with the appalling double efforts of THE HAPPENING and THE LAST AIRBENDER bringing things to a head. Hopefully his next project, AFTER EARTH, will once again see audiences flocking to the multiplexes. The cast he has assembled that will certainly help.

Will Smith and son Jaden have already been confirmed and now X-MEN: FIRST CLASS star Zoe Kravitz along with Oscar-nominated HOTEL RWANDA actress Sophie Okonedo are now in talks to join the film as daughter and wife respectively. AFTER EARTH will be big-budget action-adventure project coming via Columbia Pictures. It’s set well into the future and focuses on a father and son whose spacecraft crashes back on Earth, years after the planet became inhabitable.

Will and Jaden Smith previously starred together as father and son on the true-life drama THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
