Black & Blue Team To Fight Piracy

Our friends at Black and Blue Films have recently teamed up with The Industry Trust in an effort to combat film piracy. The production house – known for DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND and STALKER – consider piracy a major threat to the UK film industry, are backing the new ‘Moments Worth Paying For Campaign’, and have the support of their regular name talent. Black and Blue MD Jonathan Sothcott has become an ambassador for The Industry Trust, and is championing the campaign along with Black and Blue partners Martin Kemp and Billy Murray.

Black and Blue Films will release both STRIPPERS VS WEREWOLVES and ELFIE HOPKINS next year.

For details, here is the press release:

Leading UK indie BLACK & BLUE FILMS, best known for a string of horror and gangster movies starring the likes of Danny Dyer and Ray Winstone has teamed up with copyright protection body The Industry Trust to tackle DVD and download piracy in the UK.

Liz Bales, Director General of The Industry Trust said “We are delighted that a range of British TV and films stars, including Ray Winstone, Craig Fairbrass and Lucy Pinder are backing the ‘Moments Worth Paying For’ campaign, thanks to Jonathan Sothcott of Black and Blue Films.  Their profile and fan base will be a huge help in ensuring our important message –  that brilliantly crafted film and TV moments are worth paying for – hits home with film fans across the UK.

Sothcott notes “we constantly hear that the public would like to see more British movies, but the pirates are killing my industry. The Moments Worth Paying for campaign, focusing on a celebrity’s favourite film, is a brilliant ideas as it was something we can all relate too. I saw this message as one that would resonate with a young audience, the audience for our films essentially, and wanted to do all I could to help.”

Bales again: “Early indications show that the campaign is really striking a chord with film and TV fans which is great news, because put simply, the more people that use legit film and TV services – and two thirds of us already are – the more potential there is for continued investment in the British film and TV industry, which ultimately means more great film moments at better and better value for consumers.”

Amongst the celebrities Sothcott arranged to endorse the campaign are Ray and Jaime Winstone, Craig Fairbrass, Lucy Pinder, Adele Silva, Gemma Atkinson, Colin Salmon, Lysette Anthony, Jason Fleymng, Martin Compston and Barbara Nedeljakova.

Sothcott is hard at work on names for the Industry Trust’s 2012 campaign. “It’s a no brainer for actors to endorse this crucial message as if the pirates win, we won’t have a business left. The Trust do an amazing job, fighting and winning an incredibly important battle and I’m very proud to be involved with them.”
