A Thousand Words, One Trailer

Has anyone seen Adam Sandler recently? Eddie Murphy must have fought him to the death for this terrible role. A man who constantly lies is magically connected to a tree that loses its leaves when he speaks. He now has 1000 words remaining until the tree dies, and so does he. I’m already laughing!

The trailer has BRUCE ALMIGHTY and CLICK vibes from the offset (annoying man encounters overwhelming magic for no discernible reason) so it’s no surprise that  A THOUSAND WORDS comes from the very same writer. Steve Koren has also recently brought the world JACK AND JILL… So that’s what Adam Sandler’s been doing.

In all honesty, I have a barely-ironic love for bad Eddie Murphy films and I’ll be seeing A THOUSAND WORDS. I managed to sit through DADDY DAY CARE and IMAGINE THAT — which were billed as children’s comedy but featured more business drama than any child could want or need — so at least this is a step up. The film may be trapped in the early 00s (I genuinely thought the trailer’s narrator was dead) and there’s no original humour (people still sing ‘baby back ribs’?) but… I don’t know, it’s going to be terrible. Watch the trailer.
