Thomas Harris’ iconic creation has had a great run at the big-screen with Anthony Hopkins Oscar-winning portrayal of charming cannibalistic killer Hannibal Lecter in the box-office hits SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, HANNIBAL and prequel RED DRAGON. The character first seen in Michael Mann’s brilliant masterpiece MANHUNTER, Brian Cox trading psychological blows with William Petersen’s Will Graham. HANNIBAL RISING was also turned into a feature that told of Lecter’s teenage childhood during the Second World War and tried to explain his gruesome taste for human flesh (and brains of course).
We will soon get to see how Lecter and Graham first encountered each other that was only glimpsed at in RED DRAGON with the recently announced television series that has just found its network. NBC has bought the rights to the series (currently going by the title HANNIBAL) that will focus on Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter’s complicated relationship that had serious consequences for both.
PUSHING DAISIES Bryan Fuller will write and produce the series that has bypassed the usual testing pilot stage and will go straight into shooting 13 one hour long episodes if NBC are happy with the script.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
