With Brett Ratner’s TOWER HEIST due in cinemas from today a new action-comedy themed heist movie is in the works over at Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures and Warner Bros. CONVICTION, (a name change may happen after the recent Hilary Swank film of the same name) will star Steve Carell in a plot that will follow the exploits of a top professional bank robber, who after five years in prison is forced to team with the FBI in order to bring in his former protege.
The script was originally intended as a straight-up action film but now has been turned into the familiar ‘buddy’ action-comedy, that will aim for the same same vein as MIDNIGHT RUN and 48 HOURS. Carrell will also serve as a producer on the project that appears very similar to the hugely enjoyable television hit WHITE COLLAR that features IN TIME actor Matt Bomer.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
