Justin Timberlake is having a moment right now; IN TIME, the 20th Century Fox film that sees him star alongisde Amanda Seyfried, is about to be released and now he’s been offered one of the lead roles in the Coen Brothers’ folk music movie INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIES.
The story, set in the 1960s, focuses on the music scene in Greenwich Village and the title character is loosely based on Dave Van Ronk, a folk singer who was friends with Bob Dylan and many other famous musicians.
Justin Timberlake is lined up to play Jim, a folk musician who is married to Jean (played by Carey Mulligan).
DRIVE actor Oscar Isaac will star as the lead character, a struggling folk musician born and bred in Queens. Despite being a talented singer and guitarist, he can’t seem to make an ends meet playing music.
If Timberlake accepts the role it would see him reunited with his SOCIAL NETWORK (2010) producer Scott Rudin and it would solidly keep him in the film spotlight for the next year.
StudioCanal are set to co-finance the film and Robert Graf is executive producer. Production is planned for early next year in Gotham.
