Hollywood has never been afraid to throw money at the screen when it comes to natural disaster epics that hope to headline as a summer event movie. Over the years films like TWISTER, DANTE’S PEAK, VOLCANO and 2012 are just a few examples of blockbusters that tried (and more often than not failed) to capitalise on nature’s cruelty against the common man. It now appears New Line Cinema wants to put their hat in the ring with tornado thriller CATEGORY SIX.
This new film will follow the growing trend (or is that the cheap option) of using the ‘found footage’ template for an attempt at telling a story from those at the heart of the action. There is currently no director or stars attached but the script has been written by John Swetnam (EVIDENCE).

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
