After 17 years it seems that Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn are to reunite for a DUMB AND DUMBER sequel. After years of speculation and one unfortunate prequel somewhere in the middle, Bobby and Peter Farrelly will return to the characters that made their name way back in 1994. They hope to direct the project now that they have wrapped on THE THREE STOOGES. Word is that they want original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels to return to the roles (neither has done much of any value lately, so they might as well).
The big news is that gross-out pioneer brothers have Sean Anders and John Morris on board to write the script. It’s a shame that Peter and Bobby won’t be doing the honours themselves, particularly considering that Anders and Morris are responsible for directing Adam Sandler ‘comedy’ (yet to be released but come on, let’s be fair).
The original DUMB AND DUMBER was a huge hit, and the Farrelly’s will be hoping to replicate that success. As will Carrey no doubt, who has surely had enough of make-believe penguins.
The Farrelly’s upcoming THE THREE STOOGES is released April 2012.
