Last House On The Left Star David Hess Passes Away

He may not have appeared as a very nice person on screen but David Hess was loved by the people he worked with throughout his career. Most notable to the world of film as Krug, the sadistic villain of Wes Craven’s 1972 film THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, David Hess died yesterday at the age of 69.

What may surprise many is that the horror legend left a legacy that also featured writing hits for the likes Elvis Presley and Pat Boone through the 1950’s and 60’s, while himself having a successful music career in folk.

His last starring role was as a demented film director in last years  SMASH CUT opposite Sasha Grey.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
