Blake Lively, whose great work in THE TOWN lead to the not-so-great GREEN LANTERN, has decided to pass as the female lead on the big-screen version of PRIDE & PREJUDICE & ZOMBIES.
The GOSSIP GIRL star is the latest actress to join the growing list to turn down the role based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s take on the Jane Austen novel. The film is currently in development over at Lionsgate but this latest set-back puts serious doubt that the project will actually happen at all.
The project has already passed through the hands of directors David O. Russell (THE FIGHTER), Mike White (SCHOOL OF ROCK writer) and Mike Newell (DONNIE BRASCO) before the studio finally settled on FRIGHT NIGHT’s Craig Gillespie.
A-lister’s Natalie Portman (THOR), Emma Stone (EASY A) and Scarlett Johansson (THE AVENGERS) are amongst the other actresses to pass on the project.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
