Woody Harrelson who you may recognise from NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, NATURUAL BORN KILLERS or even from his performances on such classic sitcoms as CHEERS or WILL AND GRACE has now entered negotiations for a role in Louis Leterrier’s latest magician heist flick NOW YOU SEE ME.
Harrelson will play the role of a well-known mentalist and hypnotist, established for his skilful ability to perform mind tricks. The character joins an elite group of magicians and illusionists in Las Vegas after fleeing from England where a violent incident forces him to leave and end his performances for the Queen of England herself. The Four Horsemen, as the group are known, pull of a series of impressive illusions during performances in order to rob banks of their enterprise.
Edward Ricourt (HOW TO DEFEAT YOUR OWN CLONE) and Boaz Yakin initially wrote the original script and caught the attention of Leterrier who passed it to Andre Nemec and Josh Applebaum (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – GOHST PROTOCOL) who then gave it the final polish.
Summit Entertainment’s new project will also star Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher and Melanie Laurent but unfortunately probably won’t hit the silver screen until 2014.
