News on the ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie has been thin on the ground as of late, so as a huge fan of the cult television series I’m glad to hear some information straight from the mouth of one of its stars.
Jason Bateman, who portrayed Michael Bluth in the show, revealed the feature-length project will be filmed some time in 2012 and expects an official announcement could now come at any time.
“The film’s still on course to be shot next year… and everything I’m hearing is that it’s still chugging forward.”
Discussing the previous celebrity cameos from the show (Charlize Theron, Ben Stiller, and Liza Minnelli to name but a few) Bateman hinted the movie’s plotline allows for even more appearances from Hollywood stars.
“From what I understand, the concept of the film will lend itself to quite a few really good cameos. I’m going to bring my autograph book to set.”
The television series ended with narrator and producer of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Ron Howard (A BEAUTIFUL MIND) approaching Maeby Fünke (Alia Shawkat) with a proposal to bring the Bluth family to the silver screen. This new information from Bateman fuels rumours that this could literally be the plot of the film. Still, we’ll hold our breath until that official announcement arrives.
