“What we need is another vampire movie!” said nobody. Nonetheless, 2012 will see the release of VAMPS starring Alicia Silverstone (CLUELESS) and sci-fi royalty Sigourney Weaver (ALIENS).
VAMPS tells the tale of two beautiful vampires living the good nightlife in New York until ‘love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardise their immortality.’ The two undead women will also come face-to-face with a modern day Van Helsing, played by Wallace Shawn (TOY STORY 3).
Admittedly, the film is a rare breed: a romantic vampire comedy (rom-vam-com?) which could possibly give the overdone vampire genre a new lease on life. Here’s hoping for VAN HELSING meets MEAN GIRLS.
The involvement of Sigourney Weaver also sparks my interest. The AVATAR actress will portray Ciccerus, ‘a bloodthirsty “stem” vampire who has created a dynasty.’
