It is almost 100 years since the Titanic’s doomed maiden voyage, and to commemorate the anniversary, an all-new mini-series is currently planned for television . TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL is set for 12 parts, with Derek Jacobi (I, CLAUDIUS) already signed on for a lead role. Neve Campbell (SCREAM) and Chris Noth (SEX AND THE CITY) are apparently in line to join Jacobi.
The series will be set before the Titanic sets sail, and will focus on the ship’s construction and the social, political, and economic issues of the period. Jacobi will play Lord William Pirrie, the man in charge of the company that built the infamous ship.
TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL will be directed by Ciaran Donnelly and will be screened soemtime in 2012.
