We reported back last week that a brand new film version of ROMANCING THE STONE was coming to the silver screen, but it seems that we were a little incorrect in our post as Deadline are now reporting that the classic 1980’s Robert Zemeckis movie is in fact making its way to the small screen for a new TV series.
The blog says that the ‘property’ is being developed by NBC and REAL STEEL helmer Shawn Levy is to produce and possibly direct the pilot. Mark Friedman (THE FORGOTTEN) will write the series.
The original movie revolved around Kathleen Turner’s American novelist and Michael Douglas’s ex-pat soldier of fortune who are united in South America to find Turner’s mising sister. That missing sister is reported to be substituted for a missing brother in the TV show.
