With her recent surprise casting as Catwoman in DARK KNIGHT RISES, Anne Hathaway appears to be targeting another unexpected lead role as Fantine in a new film version of the world renowned LES MISERABLES.
Hugh Jackman is being reported as the man insisting that she’s the right lady for this epic role. Other rumoured stars putting their names in for rebellious and revolutionary roles are Russell Crowe (GLADIATOR) and Geoffrey Rush (THE KINGS SPEECH). However, these are early days of production and with contenders like in-demand Amy Adams (THE FIGHTER) also being considered for Fantine, is Hathaway going to be up for a fight to land the role?
According to her, she is and although this isn’t precisely the traditional LES MISERABLES, you can’t deny that Hathaway has some raw talent with these vocals from this comedic turn at the Oscars 2011:
