The long awaited adaptation of Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel, ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ has been delayed once more, as its proposed director, Craig Gillespie (FRIGHT NIGHT, LARS AND THE REAL GIRL) has abandoned the project. Twitch film revealed the information this morning; it is the latest in a long line of unfortunate occurrences to have plagued the production. Initially, Natalie Portman was due to take the lead role, but subsequently cancelled, along with two other potential directors (David O. Russell and Mike White). Rumour has it that Gillespie backed out due to the film’s fruitless struggle to find a leading lady. Apparently, Mila Kunis, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde have all turned down the role, however, this has not been officially confirmed.
One sincerely hopes the film, which was originally due to start shooting in January next year, is realised eventually, as it has the potential to be a ruddy good yarn!
Martin has been a film buff (or geek, if you prefer) for as long as he can remember. However, he lives and longs for storytelling of all kinds, and writes across numerous mediums to feed his insatiable appetite. He lives in north-west London, and his favourite films are, possibly: PAN'S LABYRINTH, THEY LIVE, PSYCHO, HIGH FIDELITY, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, STAND BY ME, SIDEWAYS and OFFICE SPACE.
