We were going to hold off in posting this as I hate to publish bootleg trailers as they never do a film justice, and I simply deteste piracy in any form. I prefer to see even the trailers as the filmmaker/ studio intended, which is why I have decided to post this. You see, there are unconfirmed rumours around the web that this has allegedly been purposely leaked by Sony and director David Fincher. Now, I’m not going to speculate that this indeed the case, but who knows? The trailer is certainly better quality than most bootlegs seen in the past. It looks like it has been recorded via a monitor rather than a cinema screen, and it has been online for the best part of three days now? Would Sony have requested that it be remove from You Tube (where it was originally posted) by now? Would known perfectionist Fincher have got the legal guys involved by now?
In my eyes, and in my opinion, this is the work of a clever viral campaign. If it is, it’s genius! We are told that a green band trailer is officially due this week, but for now here is that red band NSFW version. See it while you still can.
