Bill Nighy has joined the cast of the Len Wiseman directed production of TOTAL RECALL. The film is based on the Phillip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale,” a short story that had already been made into a film once, in 1990 with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone.
Nighy will play the character of Quatto, the leader of the resistence in the film, which kicks off shooting in Toronto, Canada on Monday.
Colin Farrell toplines the movie, while it has now officially been confirmed that Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale have also joined the cast. Bryan Cranston, and Ethan Hawke (in a cameo role) also star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wiseman’s version “ditches the Martian storyline from the original pic and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai. Farrell plays Douglas Quaid, a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy — although he doesn’t know for which side.”
The film is set up at Columbia Pictures.
