We’ve just received word that the US TV show TEEN WOLF is all set to debut in the UK over on Sky Living HD this summer. Personally haven’t managed to see any of the episodes or even hear as to what the show is actually like, but we loved the original two movies that debuted back in the eighties, especially the original with Michael J. Fox. They better have done it justice. We take it that the show will have more of a Twilight/ Buffy feel, rather than the tongue in cheek humour of the movies.
We’ll see come July when it debuts. Here’s the official press release from Sky:
This July, Sky Living HD launches one of the most hotly anticipated new dramas on the block – Teen Wolf. The new series is a sexier and darker take on the 1980’s cult classic movie which starred Michael J Fox, and debuts in the UK just a few weeks after its US premiere. With homages to the much loved and iconic original movie, new Teen Wolf is based around the socially awkward Scott McCall (Tyler Posey, Maid in Manhattan, Brothers and Sisters), the quintessential outsider, whose life is turned upside down after a terrifying encounter with a werewolf. To Scott’s amazement, his body begins to develop super-human abilities overnight. Life has never been so good for once unnoticed Scott, who, thanks to his new found success in the school lacrosse team soon becomes the most popular and desirable guy in school. Will his new gift prove to be a blessing or a curse? Only time will tell. With his new skills and confidence, Scott tries to pursue the beautiful new girl in town, Allison (Crystal Reed), but first he needs to overcome his animalistic urges and desires before somebody gets hurt. Scott also has more than his new powers to worry about; he is stuck in the middle of a war between werewolves and werewolf hunters. Fellow werewolf Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin, 7th Heaven, Road to Perdition)takes Scott under his wing, but perhaps he isn’t all he seems…Scott’s best friend Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) is left with the difficult task of keeping him out of danger. Stiles wants to find out why this has happened to Scott and won’t stop until he has the answers, even if it means putting his own life at risk.Scott’s overnight transformation has put a few noses out of joint, including Jackson (Colton Haynes) -the big man on campus and Scott’s archrival on the lacrosse team. His new social status is creating problems for Scott both on and off the field.Teen Wolf rides hot on the heels of the popularity of ‘Twilight’ and ‘True Blood’, but this new high school drama will put a nail in the coffin of other vampire dramas as werewolves become the latest hot property.Created by Criminal Minds writer Jeff Davis, Teen Wolf premieres in the US on MTV – the UK premiere will air in July, exclusive to Sky Living.
