Sony Pictures have officially announced that they will distribute both Bond 23 and Bond 24 in a new deal with MGM. The studios will co-finance the movies with MGM still retaining some distribution rights in some territories worldwide.
The deal was announced late yesterday by MGM co-chairmen and CEOs Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and Sony chairman-CEO Michael Lynton and co-chair Amy Pascal.
James Bond 23, expected to star Daniel Craig in the lead once again, with Sam Mendes taking the helm, is set for a November 9th, 2012 release.
“Sony Pictures is the ideal studio partner for us as MGM re-enters the filmmaking business,” Barber and Birnbaum said in a statement. “We have long-standing relationships with Michael and Amy and look forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together.”
