Wolverine offered the HUNTSMAN

With Viggo Mortensen turning down the role of the Huntsman in Kristen Stewart lead film SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, it looks as if the role has been offered to Hugh Jackman.

The film. which is a re-imagined of the classic tale with Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, sees the huntsman being ordered to take Snow White to the woods to kill her but ends up letting her go and being chained to her while they escape the clutches of the Queen.

The role of the Huntsman has had many of Hollywood’s top stars linked to the role including Michael Fassbender, Johnny Depp and Tom Hardy but was offered to Viggo Mortensen. Now with Mortensen declining the studio has offered the role to Hugh Jackman. Originally he was not considered for the part as he was booked up with THE WOLVERINE but with that film suffering set backs in the form of Darren Aronofsky leaving the production, Jackman’s schedule is wide open.

Now nothing is set in stone as there has been no word from Jackman’s camp and there is still six months until the film starts shooting. Also the studio is looking for Hossein Amini (KILLSHOT) coming in for some polishing of the script. So someone might be picking up the axe instead, only time will tell.

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN is due out Dec 22nd 2012.
