A superb new short film/ commercial for Nike featuring US basketball star Kobe Bryant, Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis and even Kanye West has been released. Black Mamba is directed by, and for one of the first times ever in any of his projects, stars Robert Rodriguez. The commercial is presented with Rodriguez pitching ideas to Bryant as the story plays. From what I hear Rodriguez co-scripted this too, and this is obvious as it’s full of his trademarks. In fact, this reminded me of the scene in the opening part of Desperado where Steve Buscemi’s character is telling Cheech Marin about the impending arrival of Antonio Banderas’ Mariachi. This is ace!
