Pete Postlethwaite, the Academy Award nominated actor who has starred in films like THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, to THE USUAL SUSPECTS and BRASSED OFF, has died at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer.
Postlethwaite passed away at a hospital in Shropshire, England where he was receiving treatment.
The Yorkshireman also appeared in films like Baz Luhrmann directed WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S ROMEO AND JULIET, ALIEN 3, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS and his Oscar nominated turn in the superb IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER.
This past year, he appeared in films like THE TOWN, directed by Ben Affleck, the big-budget CLASH OF THE TITANS and arguably the film of the year, INCEPTION.
Steven Spielberg once described him as the best actor in the world.
Postlethwaite also received the OBE from the Queen in 2004.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family at this sad time. Gone, but not forgotten.
