The Wachowski;s, Andy and Lana (formerly Larry), they who brought us the fantastic BOUND, THE MATRIX and erm, SPEED RACER, are revisiting an old myth for their next project. The two are towrite and direct the film HOOD, which is set up at Warner Brothers. Don’t worry though, it’s not another medieval rehash of the Robin Hood story like this year’s Ridley Scott effort. Oh, no. While we don’t know specifics, The Hollywood Reporter says that the film will be “a modern, urban take on the Robin Hood myth.”
Joel Silver, producer of the Wachowski’s THE MATRIX, will also don producer’s hat here. The filmmakers are currently ‘reaching out’ to actors, most notably one Will Smith, supposedly for the lead role of Hood.
We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
