The first film was 20 years in the making, but when THE SIMPSONS MOVIE hit cinema screens back in 2007 and ended up grossing a massive $527 million dollars, it’s no big surprise that the creators decided they may want to get a sequel out a bit quicker.
ComingSoon spoke to The Simpsons writer, James L Brook recently to find out what he thought about a second movie. He said, “[THE SIMPSONS MOVIE] was a huge success and we’re very open to [a sequel] […] We have a beginning notion if we want to do it, but the series always comes first with us.”
Brooks also spoke about how difficult the first movie was to make:
“It was much harder than we anticipated, […] It took us a year to try and get to the point because we were all so scared of ‘What are we going to do to the Simpsons’ and ‘What if the movie is no good?’ We were all so scared about that and I thought it took us a solid year of looking at each other to get to the point where we don’t give a sh*t.”
Despite no information being given as to what the story may be about, we can but hope that it’s as good as the first. But after making over 20 years of The Simpsons TV show story lines, will they be able to come up with something original?
