Leslie Nielsen 1926 – 2010

On November 28th 2010 Manitoba radiostation in Florida reported that veteran actor Leslie Nielsen died of pneumonia.  The station apparently had a recording of the actor’s nephew Doug Nielsen announcing the death.

Later the Leslie Nielsen’s management made a statement;

“We are sadden by the passing of beloved actor Leslie Nielsen, probably best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in THE NAKED GUN series of pictures, but who enjoyed a more than 60 year career in motion pictures and television.”

It’s very saddening news to wake up this morning and hear of this, not just great comedic but dramatic actor’s, death.  Leslie Nielsen has been on our screens in one shape or the other for the past 55 years from FORBIDDEN PLANET to narrating DISNEYLAND to acting the bumbling detective in POLICE SQUAD and the NAKED GUN series to my personal favorite recurring character in Lt Buck Frobisher DUE SOUTH.

He will be sorely missed.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
