It’s become known as the film where Channing Tatum suffered an unfortunate, cringe-inducing accident involving scolding hot water coming into direct contact with his man parts, but enough about that, THE EAGLE now has a trailer and poster to its name.
Based on Rosemary Sutcliff’s classic novel, Eagle of the Ninth, the movie is set in 140AD, twenty long years after the strange Bermuda-like disappearance of an entire legion of men in the mountains of bonnie Scotland. Centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) is intent on solving the mystery, and sets off from Rome accompanied by his slave, Esca, played by a rather macho looking (for a boy who once donned a pair of ballet shoes in BILLY ELLIOTT) Jamie Bell. The goal is to find the golden emblem of the lost ninth legion, the eagle, but to complicate matters the path to victory is block by some face-painted, and surprisingly savage tribal warriors.
Directed by Kevin MacDonald (THe LAST KING OF SCOTLAND), the movie is due for a UK cinema release on March 18th.
