Robert Downey Jr may quit Alfonso Cuarons GRAVITY. He was meant to shoot the project before moving on to the sequel to 2009’s SHERLOCK HOLMES but a long casting process for the lead actress has delayed the production. Downey is currently filming HOLMES.
According to Deadline.com, these delays “have taken their toll on Downey, who needs to focus soon on THE AVENGERS and then IRON MAN 3“. As previously reported on here, Downey has also been roped in to star in OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
Warner Bros is currently denying reports that Downey may exit the project, claiming that they expect to work out the scheduling conflicts in order to keep him. I’d imagine, just a tip, that a stonking pay day may well just give them a helping hand in securing the man himself. You can see why they are nervous, currently the film has guaranteed Box Office with him attached but should he disappear, the studio risk losing a lot of that interest…
Apparently even the lead actress Sandra Bullock hasn’t been able to work her charms on him to persuade him to stay… time will tell with this one but whatever happens, Downey is coming to ALOT of screens near you.
