Some superb news for fans of all things Mission: Impossible, and Jeremy Renner come to think of it. The Hurt Locker star has been cast in the fourth installment of the spy franchise, opposite Tom Cruise who is all set to reprise his role of Ethan Hunt.
The word from Deadline, who broke the scoop today, is that the studio (Paramount), were looking at Inception star Tom Hardy, and also Star Trek actor Chris Pine for the lucrative role, but after those actors were solidly booked, and after they apparently decided against the likes of alleged candidates Kevin Zegers, Christopher Egan and Anthony Mackie, they went with Renner, who could take over the franchise should Tom Cruise bow out later on.
This is great news, and it looks like the film is a goer pretty soon under the direction of The Incredibles helmer Brad Bird (who makes his live-action debut with Mission: Impossible IV).
Keep it THN for more news as we get it!
