Maggie Gyllenhaal to star in Hysteria, joins Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce and Rupert Everett

Maggie Gyllenhaal has joined the cast of Hysteria, a romantic comedy that already boasts that it has Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce and Rupert Everett in its cast.

According to Variety, Dancy and Pryce will star as doctors in London treating cases of hysteria, a condition said to be characterized at the time by a woman’s irritability, anger or unexplained tears. Dancy’s character and his best friend, portrayed by Everett, experiment with a new electrical device for treatment for the ailment. Gyllenhaal portrays the daughter of Pryce’s character. To put it a different way, in the words of People for example, the film is ‘a romantic comedy set in Victorian London about the invention of the vibrator.’

Shooting will actually take place in London itself and and Luxembourg in October. Tanya Wexler will direct from a script by Stephen Dyer and Jonah Lisa Dyer.

Those who cannot do, write about – or so they say. Aside from the site, Paul has directed a music video (badly), has one credit to his name on the IMDb, enjoys running, driving (now that he has finally passed his test at the age of 33), and of course going to the movies.
