Our mates over at Zboneman.com have delivered, as always, another brilliant review for the top flick at the US box-office this weekend, Shrek Forever After. Mike Myers, Antonio Banderas, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz etc, return to voice all of your faves in the fourth installment in the popular series.
There are some really funny moments in this picture. The ogre hunting witches are really entertaining and the sight of seeing Puss in Boots as a lazy fat cat is certainly a highlight. I also found myself a little bit moved, surprisingly so, by the final ten minutes of the picture. In the end though, there are stretches of Shrek Ever After that are dull and uninspired. Furthermore, there are portions of the picture in which its painfully obvious that the writers had a hard time coming up with interesting ways to bring all these characters back (a similar fate that plagued Ice Age 3). This Shrek tale certainly could have been a whole lot worse, but lets hope the film-makers stick to their guns and leave the franchise alone. Four is more than enough.
