Date Night makes the number one spot at US box-office… but only just!

This weekend’s official box-office numbers are in and BOY! What a close call. Date Night scraped in to secure the number one spot for Fox with $27.1 million in the good green, a touch more than Clash Of The Titans, which managed to bank $26.8 in its second week out there. The Warner Brothers movie now has over $110 million total. In at three, again a very close call was Dreamworks How To Train Your Dragon, which managed to gather a nice $25.3 million over the three days.

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too and Disney’s The Last Song rounded out the top five.

This week sees the release of the highly anticipated Kick-Ass, which opens to cinemas on Thursday night, along with Death At A Funeral, a Neil LaBute film starring Chris Rock. Check back next week to see how they all did.

Here’s this week’s top ten in full.

    Date Night was Number 2!!!

“Clash of the Titans came in at $26.6 million, slightly less than its $26.9 million Sunday estimate, but Date Night had the biggest overestimation: its actual gross was $25.2 million versus the $27.1 million that its studio, 20th Century Fox, reported Sunday morning.” – boxofficemojo.com

They shouldn’t allow studios to get away with these kinds of tricks where they overestimate a movie so they get free press. It really changes your movie choices for the upcoming weekend. They cost that other studio lots of revenue. They should at least say they’re $ORRY.
