James Cameron has revealed through an interview with The Wall Street Journal that he is planning to release Avatar on DVD and Blu-Ray this coming April 22nd, which also happens to be Earth Day.
“That’s our plan as of right now, and that’ll be pretty much bare bones,” he said. “And then we’ll do a value-added DVD and a 3-D Blu-ray in I think November sometime.”
So no bonus features or behind-the-scenes stuff. We used to call this the vanilla release didn’t we?
The filmmaker also commented on a sequel to Avatar which he hopes to make ‘cheaper and faster’ than that of the first film, which was four years in the making. He said that the film would be:
“a continuation of the same characters. We’re going to widen the universe in quotes, meaning the envelope of the setting of the story.”
