Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo who wrote last year’s superb ZOMBIELAND, have been tapped by 20th Century Fox to pen the X-MEN spin-off DEADPOOL.
The planned film is set to be a starring vehicle for one Ryan Reynolds, who has already played the character in last year’s X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. If the rumours are true, the film could even kick off shooting this summer, just after the time in which Reynolds completes working on Martin Campbells GREEN LANTERN.
According to the trade paper Variety, DEADPOOL will stay true to the mythology of “the comic book series, given that Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property.
The tone of the comic, which features an antihero as opposed to the more traditional heroic comicbook protagonist, is very similar in tone to ZOMBIELAND.
